Bruce Lasky (LEGS '03)

CEU alumnus Bruce Lasky is an attorney and legal educator with more than 25 years' experience in legal aid, clinical legal education, plus pro bono and legal training work. As Co-Founder/Director of the not-for-profit organizations Bridges Across Borders Southeast Asia Community Legal Education Initiative (BABSEACLE), as well as BABSEACLE Australia, BABSEACLE Singapore Ltd. and the BABSEACLE Foundation, he provides technical and education advisory support for justice education programs throughout Southeast Asia.

A New York native, Bruce began his career in 1991 as a practicing criminal legal aid attorney. He has more than 16 years' experience working in developing countries and countries in transition, implementing education and community empowerment projects, including much of that work focusing on clinical legal education, pro bono, and access to justice and legal aid.

He has also worked to provide academic or legal training support with universities, legal aid organizations, government institutions, lawyers in the private sector and others worldwide. This has included the research and evaluation of such programs and the offering of evidence-based suggestive CLE advocacy guidance based upon the results. In addition to the above, he also serves in a volunteer capacity as a Board of Directors member for the not-for-profit organizations The Global Alliance for Justice Education, The Southeast Asia Legal Aid Network and Sustainable Cambodia.

Throughout his career Bruce has been a committed and loyal CEU alumnus. In addition to volunteering his time to mentor students and support CEU, he has started the BABSEA CLE Student Award for talented CEU students going into the field of human rights.
