Andrea Kobor (SPP '17, Hungary)

November 3, 2016

Andrea is studying at CEU this year, thanks to the supporters of the CEU Alumni Scholarship.

In her own words:

I'm an idealist, who believes we can build a peaceful and tolerant world. Fair access to education and information are key. Therefore, in 2011 I cofounded the Student Network, the biggest student movement in post-transition Hungary, which prompted partial withdrawal of laws imposed on higher education. Afterwards I became involved in Hungarian civil society, co-organizing many demonstrations and improving communications between civil organizations.

In 2014 I initiated my own media project, Hello90, aimed at engaging young people in important political issues. Recently, I've returned from Malaysia where I worked as an International Volunteer at an English Teaching NGO project, where I managed the center and taught English and communication skills to underprivileged youth and adults.

The CEU Alumni Scholarship will help me continue my volunteer work in Hungary while concentrating on my studies. Thank you, donors, for this great opportunity!
