Jillian Lipman (NATI ’17, USA)

November 4, 2016

Jilian is studying at CEU this year, thanks to the supporters of the CEU Alumni Scholarship.

In her own words:

In 2014 I graduated from Goucher College with a BA in Peace Studies. I feel drawn to work that offers interventions to systemic injustices, inspiring me to study power and identity and pursue a career in this field.

During my studies, I volunteered in Baltimore teaching conflict resolution and nonviolence to students and became a certified mediator. After graduating, I led workshops for synagogues and Jewish youth groups about white supremacy and the Jewish obligation to fight alongside communities of color to dismantle racism. I continued this work as an organizer for Maryland Working families, a grassroots organization fighting for racial and economic justice, where I worked to pass the most progressive legislation on equal pay in America.

I look forward to connecting with changemakers from around the world while at CEU. Thank you to CEU’s alumni for enabling me to study my passions in this international community of leaders!
