Shwetha Nair (MESPOM ’18, India)

November 4, 2016

Shwetha is studying at CEU this year, thanks to the supporters of the CEU Alumni Scholarship.

In her own words:

I earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Wildlife Management from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and a BA in Zoology and Biochemistry with honours from the University of Mumbai, India.

I have worked with wildlife conservation NGOs in India and New Zealand, studying the co-existence between humans and wildlife. While working with fishing communities to encourage sustainable fisheries and preserve the coral reefs of India’s Lakshadweep Islands, I realised the importance of community socio-economics in conservation efforts.

CEU will help me achieve my goals of developing viable models for conservation in areas with high population density, especially where people depend heavily on forest/ocean resources.

I feel honoured and grateful to the alumni donors for their support and am excited to contribute to both my country and CEU through the alumni association.
