Philanthropy Bake Sale Serves Generous Returns

December 8, 2017

The CEU community is hungry to give back.

That's the takeaway from this year's 5th annual Bake It > Make It Forward fundraiser, held at CEU on November 27. In kicking off the university's first-ever Philanthropy Week, community members raised a record 170,000 HUF ($638) by day's end in support of two great causes. (Photos below.)

Dozens of students and alumni, faculty and staff donated homemade baked goods, or their talents, in exchange for donations to the CEU Alumni Scholarship or for Christmas gifts for underprivileged children, via the Kicsi Pakk Initiative.

Bakers offered sweet and savory goodies: cookies and cakes plus focaccia breads and Balkan cheese and spinach pies. Others offered massage, graphic design, and natural cosmetics workshops, to name just a few. In all, nearly 200 community members offered something for donation or exchange.

Organized by the CEU Student Philanthropy Council  and the Alumni Relations office, the event was intended to generate on-campus buzz about the power of giving back. Thanks to everyone who made it a success!
