CEU alumna Elizabeth Warn (IRES ’01, UK) serves as Deputy Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kyiv, Ukraine. And since the onset of the war, on February 24, 2022, she and her colleagues have been struggling to mitigate a catastrophe – and assist millions of displaced persons and refugees.

Alumnus Ramūnas Davidonis Named Lithuanian Ambassador to UAE

CEU alumnus Ramūnas Davidonis (IRES ’96, Lithuania) has been appointed as Lithuania’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.  Ramūnas (right) was presented his credentials to represent his country to the UAE on Monday, March 21, by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda (left). See full story.

CEU Alumni Reunion 2022 Postponed

Due to the war in Ukraine, this year’s CEU Alumni Reunion Gala, originally slated for Saturday, May 21 has been postponed. Associated events, part of Alumni Reunion Weekend 2022, have also been tabled for a later date. New dates will be announced once finalized.

In Memoriam: CEU Trustee Richard Blum

Former CEU Trustee Richard Blum passed away on February 27, 2022, at the age 86.

A longtime friend and supporter of CEU, Mr. Blum generously sponsored two alumni matching gift campaigns, in 2013 and 2015. These campaigns spurred alumni around the world to get involved and help raise tens of thousands of dollars in support the future of their alma mater.

UPDATE: Relief Efforts for CEU Alumni from Ukraine

The war in Ukraine is a tragedy for the CEU family, which boasts nearly 1000 Ukrainian alumni and students. Since the war’s outbreak, on February 24, the university and its alumni community have mobilized to show solidarity and help alumni and students from Ukraine. See below for what’s being done.
