Liat Sivek (MEDS ’15)

November 18, 2014

Liat is from the United Kingdom and Israel. She is studying at CEU thanks to the Alumni Scholarship, next|generation.

In her own words:

I studied at Israel’s Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, earning an MA in Medieval History in 2013, and a BA in History in 2011.

During my undergraduate studies I helped build and lived in the first “student village” in the south of Israel, volunteering within the local community whilst developing the village. During my MA in Jewish History I led a small group of students from the village to the Old City of Be’er Sheva, where we helped revive the social fabric of the old neighborhood. Today, the Old City is a cultural center and a haven for young artists.

I have spent a year in Budapest already, exploring the city and continuing my work with the Jewish Museum and teaching Hebrew at the Center for Israeli Culture. At CEU I hope to combine formal studies with cultural experiences—and to take advantage of CEU’s unique social fabric.

My life has taught me the value of belonging to a tight-knit social group. I am honored to now be part of yet another community, and thank the alumni donors for the opportunity to do so.
