Zulfia is a humanitarian aid professional and current Head of Area Office for the UN World Food Programme (WFP) in Kassala, Sudan.
For the past 20 years she has served with the WFP in troubled regions around the world, coordinating the provision of emergency food and humanitarian aid to millions of displaced people in troubled regions around the world.
In 2015 she served both in Ukraine, providing food and cash assistance to displaced persons, and in Turkey where she helped organize cross-border food deliveries into Syria and to those displaced by the conflict there, as well as special nutritional aid to young children in refugee camps. Her previous assignments include stints in Afghanistan, Sudan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Prior to her career with the WFP, she worked in Italy at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
