Serbian Alumni Happy Hour Raises Spirits, Funds for Scholarship
CEU alumni in Serbia gathered for a lively Happy Hour in Belgrade on Friday, June 7 – and raised hundreds of euros in support of their country’s future CEU students.
The event drew ten alumni and friends from the tight-knit alumni community to Belgrade’s Jazz Basta Club. Hosted by Chapter Leader Milica Nesic (LEGS ’18) and Nurangiz Khodzharova (IRES ’08), CEU Alumni Volunteer Programs Coordinator, the event featured drinks, networking, and a fun CEU-themed trivia game with CEU-branded prizes.
The event was also the third annual fundraiser for the Serbian Alumni Scholarship.
Every attendee donated on the spot or pledged to support the scholarship, which helps students from Serbia attend CEU. Underscoring the importance of the scholarship, two of the attendees are former Alumni Scholarship Recipients – chapter leader Milica and Darko Majstorovic (NATI ’16).
Founded in 2014, the Serbian Alumni Scholarship is awarded to accepted first-year Serbian students in financial need with a record of community service and potential to further the CEU community after graduation. The award totals 2,000 euro.
Thanks to everyone for the great event and for supporting the scholarship!
