Iryna Pozhydaieva (LEGS '20, Ukraine)

September 27, 2019

Iryna studied International Law at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University in Ukraine and spent an exchange semester at European University Viadrina in Germany. She has been active in the legal sphere and international relations, and became familiar with main European values including respect for human rights as a Young European Ambassador at the Eastern Partnership. Her legal experience at the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group and corresponding research inspired her to dedicate her  career to global human rights protection.

What is your life's goal?

My goal is to make something really significant for those people who need special protection of their basic rights, especially vulnerable groups of the population, and to bring positive changes to human rights protection all over the world.

Why did you choose your particular course of study?

This program provides a special academic and practical training for a future professional that can help me to realize my main mission, to gain necessary skills for it and to become a human rights defender.

What do you hope to gain from your time at CEU?

Apart from deepening my knowledge on the system of global human rights protection, I hope to become a part of the multicultural student community and to establish new networks.
