Croatia, Antonija Petričušić (SOCL '15)

June 15, 2022

Antonija Petričušić received her M.A. in Sociology and Social Anthropology at CEU and M.A. in Human Rights and Democratization from the University of Sarajevo and the University of Bologna. She received her Ph.D. from the Faculty of Law at the University of Graz, Austria. Currently she is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, Croatia. She is also a member of the Ombudswoman's Human Rights Council and a member of the International Academic Council of the European Regional Master's Programme in Democracy and Human Rights in South East Europe.

She is an initiator and a co-founder of  the student-staff alliance Za pravo LGBTIQA+ osoba (ZA-Pravo), a gay-straight alliance that is bringing together students and staff at the University of Zagreb. For her significant contribution to gender equality and social justice in Croatia in 2020 she was awarded the Fierce Women WoW Award.

Why does she want to volunteer for CEU?

I believe only one's engagement in community work and volunteering contribute to an active change in social and political life of the country. Therefore I hope that as a CEU Alumni chapter leader in Croatia I can bring together numerous brillant alumnae and alumni of CEU programmes and that together we can act as an agent of policy change in Croatia.
