Alejandro Valencia (ENVS, MESPOM '19, Colombia)

October 5, 2017

Alejandro is studying at CEU this year, thanks to the CEU Alumni Scholarship.

In his own words:

Prior to CEU I studied at the University of Maryland, where I became interested in Agricultural Economics. During a semester abroad, I explored the impact that years of policies focused solely on economic growth - with no regards for sustainability - have on the environment.

Afterwards, I worked at the Organization of American States, focusing on Social Protection, the alleviation of poverty and hunger alleviation - again reinforcing the importance that agriculture plays in the wellbeing of our most vulnerable.

For the past three years, I’ve worked at the World Bank’s Independent Evaluation Group. More importantly, for the last two years I’ve financially supported my 17-year-old brother, who is preparing for his first semester of college.

Study at CEU will provide me with needed technical knowledge to advance my career; the generosity of alumni donors will allow me to focus my time solely on academics. Thank you, donors!
