Fruzsina Katona (LEGS '18, Hungary)

October 5, 2017

Fruzsina is studying at CEU this year, thanks to the CEU Alumni Scholarship.

In her own words:

Standing against inequality and abuses of power comes naturally to me. As journalist, I work to make Hungary a better place, where people can live with transparent governance and tolerance.
I’ve participated in numerous projects related to minorities, including the Yellow Star Houses Program and the Gipsy Motion Picture Atelier. In 2015, I became Media Freedom Ambassador of Hungary for the European Youth Press, followed by membership in the Index on Censorship’s Youth Advisory Board. I’m also a volunteer translator for Global Voices Online.

I participate in and help organize numerous workshops and conferences, including European Youth Media Days. I also work for Hungary’s first investigative journalism portal, Átlátszó, producing podcasts and video and investigative reports.

I wish to become a human rights journalist. With the help of CEU’s alumni donors I’m closer to this dream. Thank you for supporting my studies!
