Samten Yeshi (MEDS '19, Bhutan)
Samten is studying at CEU this year, thanks to the CEU Alumni Scholarship.
In his own words:
I graduated with BA in Buddhist Studies from a Tibetan Monastic College in India. Since then I’ve worked as a bilingual reporter with Bhutan’s national newspaper, and was also engaged in Bhutan’s Intangible Cultural documentation and research.
Culture and Buddhism are my strength, and environmental conservation is my passion. At my own risk I have confronted individuals and officials caught degrading cultural and natural heritage sites in my village, and have advocated for conservation.
CEU will help strengthen my skills and knowledge in the area I’m passionate about. I’m very grateful to CEU and the alumni donors for extending the support I need to help shape me into a strong advocate to protect, preserve and conserve cultural and natural heritage.
I sincerely thank the alumni donors who made this support available.
