The European Parliament civil rights, interior and judicial committee approved a draft position submitted by Fidesz MEP Lívia Járóka on EU strategy for the social treatment of Roma people, with a huge majority on Tuesday, February 15.

Járóka, the only Roma MEP, said the treatment of Roma is not only a human rights obligation, but an economic necessity, which is in the interest of EU member states from a financial point of view.
