More than 40 alumni, joined by CEU President John Shattuck, made the CEU reunion in Vilnius on April 12 an unprecedented success! It was the biggest-ever CEU alumni gathering in the Baltics. Old friends and classmates reconnected, shared personal stories of success and adventure after CEU and enjoyed this exclusive chance to meet the CEU Rector in their own locality, as well as CEU Director of Alumni and Corporate Relations, Serge Sych (IRES '97, LEGS '99) and representatives from the Hungarian Embassy and U.S. Embassy in Vilnius.
The Q & A session after the Rector's welcome presentation and the reception afterwards gave guests ample time to discuss the current developments at CEU, among which the expansion and renovation of the campus, and share their own visions of the University's place and direction for the future. Meanwhile, the Rector had the pleasure of personally speaking to many CEU alumni from the region and hearing the stories of the extraordinary individuals that once filled the University's classrooms.
Within the two days of pre-reunion meetings and the event itself, CEU alumni in the Baltics made an extraordinary contribution to the 20th Anniversary CEU Alumni Campaign. Pledges and donations from Vilnius this April, including major pledges and gifts made on the evening of the reunion, amounted to more than USD 25,000. All proceeds from the event will be directed towards the improvement of the quality of campus facilities, education and student life at CEU.
We wish to thank all alumni, their families and friends, who joined us for the biggest, most successful CEU reunion in the Baltics to date! We look forward to welcoming you to the next reunion in Budapest and abroad and we hope to see you at the grand 20th Anniversary Alumni Reunion in Budapest on May 14, 2011!
