Successful reunion conference for CEU alumni and students in Central Asia!

The first-ever reunion for CEU alumni in Central Asia, which took place on June 24, 2011 in Bishkek, gathered over 30 participants from 4 out of 5 countries in the region. Among them were alumni, friends of the University and current and prospective CEU students. This exclusive event, organized by the CEU Alumni Chapter in Kyrgyzstan and sponsored by CEU's 20th Anniversary Event Fund,  featured a day-long conference of panel discussions and reflections on the social responsibility of academia, environmental awareness and diversity in education with panelists from CEU, University of Central Asia and the region.

The conference opened with a reunion dinner on the evening of June 23, which gave the panelists and participants a chance to socialize, network an enjoy an evening with CEU in Bishkek. The next day brought a series of insightful panel discussions and presentations from distinguished speakers, including CEU Vice President for Student Services Peter Johnson, Director of Alumni and Corporate Relations Serge Sych (IRES '97, LEGS '99) and Kyrgyzstan Alumni Chapter Coordinator and Vice President for Academic Affairs at American University of Central Asia Bermet Tursunkulova (IRES '99).

At the end of the day, CEU Vice President for Student Services, Peter Johnson, joined the local CEU Alumni Chapter in delivering a special pre-departure orientation meeting for the 15 newly admitted CEU students from Central Asia. This was followed by an information session for prospective applicants, which was attended by up to 100 guests.

Bermet Tursunkulova (IRES '99), leader of the CEU Alumni Chapter in Kyrgyzstan, also received a "20th Anniversary Alumni Hero" Award in recognition of her exemplary dedication to CEU as an alumni leader, donor and volunteer.
