Alumni Scholarship Recipients Raise Over 80,000 HUF for Budapest's Homeless in the "Tea for the Homeless" Campaign

In March 2012, current and former recipients of the Alumni Scholarship followed up their Blanket Drive for the Homeless initiative with an equally successful fundraising campaign, aiming to provide hot tea to Budapest's homeless in the cold winter season. With sponsorship from CEU Alumni Relations & Career Services and the Center for Arts and Culture, the student organizers set up a table in the CEU Octagon, offering free tea and cookies and encouraging the CEU community to make donations of any size to help warm up those lacking a cozy home to go back to in the winter.
Within a mere 6 hours, the initiative gained over 100 donors and raised over 80,000 HUF, which was promptly used to buy 6.25 kg of tea, 170 kg of sugar and 180 l of lemon juice. That was then donated to Golgota Homeless Shelter in Budapest.
This initiative was organized as part of the Baobab Leaves CEU Alumni Campaign. For more information, visit the Alumni Campaign page or email the organizers at youcanhelp@ceu.hu.
