Macedonian Ambassador to Hungary and CEU alumnus Darko Angelov (IRES ’04) donated 130 books to the CEU library during a visit last earlier this month.

Mr. Angelov made the donation during a courtesy call to CEU’s Chief Librarian Maria Szlatky on Thursday, October 4.

The books included an entire series of classic Macedonian literature, translated into English. All will be available for loan to library users.

Panda Stojanovska, a Budapest-based lector of the Macedonian language, attended the October 4 event, as did a number of CEU students from Macedonia.

Szlatky said the donation is much appreciated, and “an example of vibrant relations CEU Library has with its former students.”

After graduating from CEU’s IRES department, Mr. Angelov has worked and written extensively on issues of international relations and foreign policy.

He has served as Macedonia’s ambassador to Hungary since 2010. Earlier this year he became Macedonia’s non-resident ambassador to Nigeria and Kazakhstan.
