Two recently-formed chapters of CEU alumni, in Mongolia and China respectively, are getting organized, meeting and taking action to maintain ties to their alma mater.

The CEU Alumni & Friends in Mongolia chapter met in Ulan Bator last month and elected representatives to maintain contact with the university and to coordinate future events.

The meeting, at a pub in the Mongolian capital, also included socializing and games. Enthusiasm among participating alumni has been high.

“We are still connected to [CEU and Budapest] by all our soul and heart,” one representative wrote. “[That is] reason to gather and share our experiences of CEU.”

The group’s first meetings took place last fall; a Facebook group was formed shortly thereafter.

CEU alumni in China have also been active recently. Earlier this month, alumni leaders have been networking with fellow alumni and working to promote the university

A February reunion drew several alumni to a Beijing nightspot. More graduates have been contacted regarding tentative future events.

One alumni leader in Beijing said two friends of alumni have been convinced to attend CEU themselves.

“We expect to have two more [fellow alumni] next year,” she said.
