All we can say is “wow”!
On Friday, Nov. 15 the CEU community in Budapest came together for the university’s first-ever Philanthropy Day. Intended to bolster awareness of the value of philanthropic giving, this historic student-led initiative involved raising funds for the CEU Alumni Campaign and a local nonprofit, Hope for Children.
During Philanthropy Day students, alumni and staff took over the Octagon and offered home-baked treats (and fresh Starbucks coffee) in return for donations to the Student Emergency Fund of the Alumni Campaign and other charitable causes. By day’s end, more than 130 students - a third of all students on campus that day - had pledged their support, raising more than 80,000 HUF. Not a bad day’s work! (Check the latest campaign stats here.)
Afterwards, students hosted the “We Love Budapest” event, in Nádor 13. This packed-house performance featured dozens of student singers, musicians and spoken word artists. Several Alumni Scholarship Recipients, past and present, were among the performers.
It was a fantastic day for community building among students, staff, alumni and friends. A huge THANKS to everyone who took part!
