Ausrine is from Lithuania. She is studying at CEU thanks to the Alumni Scholarship, next|generation.

In her own words:

Originally from a small town, in 2008 I moved to the Lithuanian capital to study at Vilnius University, from where I graduated in 2013 with a BA in Cultural History and Anthropology.

In 2013 I became chairperson of the Association for Animal Rights, and have also been active in a number of feminist and LGBT initiatives, including a protest against the proposed outlawing of legal abortion in Lithuania, and organization of the country’s first LGBTQI festival, “SaffoFest.”

I am dedicated to academic knowledge in the field of Gender Studies, and have participated in many conferences, trainings and meetings on feminist issues and human rights. I wrote my bachelor’s thesis on the experience of LGBT people in Soviet Lithuania. The scholars who evaluated it considered me a pioneer of this study in the country.

I feel my time at CEU will enable to make new professional connections and provide a stable foundation for my future activism. I am very grateful to the alumni donors this amazing opportunity!
