Janka is from Slovakia. She is studying at CEU thanks to the Alumni Scholarship, next|generation.
In her own words:
Prior to coming to CEU, I studied Social Anthropology in Prague, where I earned both an MA and a BA from Charles University. During my time there I volunteered for a number of environmental and civic causes via an organization that seeks to empower citizens and communities to defend their rights against state bureaucracy and corporations.
I applied to the Sociology and Social Anthropology Department at CEU to expand my horizons in the field. This academic year I plan to work on an anthropological research project addressing issues of memory and identity.
I have already had the chance to meet members of the CEU alumni community—they are literally the ones who gave me the idea to come here—as several of my friends had a chance to study at CEU. I look forward to this academic year.
