CEU alumna Bermet Tursunkulova (IRES ’99) has been appointed Deputy Minister of Education and Science for the Kyrgyz Republic.
Appointed on Oct. 27, 2014 by order of Prime Minister Joomart Otorbaev, Bermet will now oversee issues related to higher education in Kyrgyzstan.
Bermet has served as President for Academic Affairs at the American University in Central Asia, in Bishkek, where she and her colleagues welcomed CEU Founder George Soros during his visit there earlier this month. She is also the longtime leader of the CEU alumni chapter leader in Kyrgyzstan.
