The CEU Alumni Campaign just received a major gift – and a major challenge to the alumni community.
CEU Board Member Richard Blum (left) pledged $50,000 in matching funds, and urged alumni to join him in supporting the University in the final months of its Alumni Campaign.
In response, a fundraising competition between CEU schools and departments has been launched. From now until December, all gifts to any fund of the Campaign will counted according to donors’ graduating schools or departments - and matched dollar-for-dollar.
The school or department with the highest number of donors wins, and will be honored in Budapest at CEU's 25th Anniversary Alumni Reunion, in May 2016. Follow the competition and get involved today!
This is Mr. Blum's second major gift to the Alumni Campaign in recent years. He explained his motivation in this way:
This is a defining moment for CEU. As the University celebrates its 25th anniversary, new dynamics are at play: President and Rector John Shattuck will complete his very successful term next summer and the University will soon have new leadership. This means we are all focusing on CEU's future, as well as its remarkable achievements in recent years, and the future belongs to all who have attended this great and growing University.
I believe that alumni are the best partners a University can have in shaping its trajectory; and I am convinced that there’s never been a better time to take action and support that future. On behalf of the University and the Board of Trustees, I invite you to join me in contributing to the Alumni Campaign.
Many thanks to Mr. Blum for his generous gift and his challenge to the CEU Alumni Community. May the best school or department alumni prevail!
