This August John Shattuck will conclude his seven-year term and step down as CEU president and rector. He will succeeded by Canadian politician and author Michael Ignatieff.
President Shattuck has distinguished himself as a dedicated, enthusiastic leader of CEU and its global community, as well as a career diplomat and champion of peace and human rights.
Under his tenure CEU has broken ground on a new campus, launched the School of Public Policy, seen increases in new student recruitment and fundraising and much more.
To salute its outgoing President and Rector, CEU will rename the Center on Conflict, Resolution and Recovery (one of President Shattuck's signature initiatives) the Shattuck Center, and has launched a new initiative to support it. Details.
Also, to show its appreciation for Presidents Shattuck, the Alumni Relations office presented him with an honorary Alumni Impact Award during the May 7 alumni reunion in Budapest for his support of the CEU community.
On June 7, President Shattuck will host a free alumni reception at the Hungarian Consulate in New York City, his final official appearance at an alumni event. Details and RSVP.
Many thanks to President Shattuck!
