Alumni Reunion Weekend: More United than Ever
This year’s Alumni Reunion Weekend, CEUone, was a three-day celebration of this community's achievements, the work that remains to be done – and a chance to party with friends!
Things got started on Thursday, May 3 with the two-day Alumni Leadership Forum, which drew dedicated alumni volunteers and leaders from around the world. (See story and pics.) That evening, festivities got fully underway at Welcome Evening, a family-style gathering and 'aperitivo' on the CEU rooftop. (See photos.)
Friday, May 4 saw the first-ever CEU Living Library, a student/alumni networking event with more than 30 participants gathered in Nador 9 Octagon. See photos. That was followed by the ever-popular Departmental Coffeehouse, attended by more than 100 alumni in sessions for the Departments of Legal Studies, Economics and Business, Political Science, and International Relations, plus the School of Public Policy.
Friday night saw a full house at CEU Pub Quiz. The second one in less than a year, the quiz drew more than 100 students, staff and alumni for provocative questions, lively debate, and refreshments. Thursday and Friday both included sales of CEU-branded items as well as an alumni lounge, where grads could gather for talk and free coffee, in the Nador 15 building.
Saturday, May 5 included the second annual tour of CEU’s environmentally sustainable Nador 13 and 15 campus, followed by a riverboat race at the Dunai Regatta. The evening included an intimate gathering of nearly 60 distinguished alumni donors and volunteers at the President’s Reception. (See story and pics.) The main event, CEUone: Alumni Reunion Gala, drew more than 250 alumni and friends to the swank Hotel InterContinental Budapest for a night to remember. See full story, gala photos and group photos.
Events like these, and the attendance of alumni from around the world, testify to the strength and vitality of this university’s community. As President and Rector Michael Ignatieff stated during his gala keynote: “We’re more united than ever, more resilient than ever.”
Thanks to all who proved him right, and made this year's Alumni Reunion Weekend memorable!
