Some people set goals. Now CEU’s Alumni and Friends in Serbia are very close to reaching theirs.
On Saturday, June 2 nearly 20 alumni and newly-accepted students met in Belgrade for a special reunion and fundraising session. Held at Belgrade’s Café BRE, the event included a raffle which raised more than $450 in support of the Serbian Alumni Scholarship.
The chapter seeks to raise enough money – $2,000 to be precise – to fund a scholarship for a student from Serbia. As of Saturday, they’re now only $150 away from that goal. (Want to help? Make your gift today, and reference 'Serbian Alumni Scholarship.')
“The Serbian alumni feel very strongly as a chapter, and about sending a student from Serbia to CEU,” said Biljana Lalic (NATI ’16) CEU’s Alumni Fundraising Coordinator. “This shows it.”
Eleven alumni, mostly recent graduates, attended, representing graduating classes from 1998 to 2017 and six academic units. Four-newly accepted students also attended, getting an early feel for the CEU community.
During the raffle, alumni made donations in return for CEU branded items like tote bags, t-shirts and others – which some then gave to students. Although, as per tradition, CEU covered everyone’s welcome drink, local Alumni Chapter Leader Sara Penjer (LEGS ’16) treated students to a second round.
Socializing went on until early the following morning.
While the event was a great success, the chapter has only until Friday, June 15 to reach its goal of $2,000. Please help and make your gift today! If you haven't yet, stay involved with the Serbian Alumni Chapter by joining its Facebook group.
