After months of anticipation it’s finally here: CEU’s first alumni-centric space on campus, the Alumni Lounge!
Last Friday night, more than 30 CEU alumni from Budapest and beyond came to help us launch this important new space with a very special champagne reception. Thanks to everyone who joined us! SEE PICS.
Located in the former CEU library, alongside the CEU Innovations Lab, the lounge is a dedicated space for alumni to meet and network or simply hang out and have a coffee. Alumni are welcome any time.
The space includes coffee tables, comfy chairs and even a fledgling library (which alums are welcome to add to). Its proximity to the iLab, CEU’s award-winning startup incubator, also allows alumni a spot at the open workstations and a chance to work remotely – or get in on the action.
Already one alumnus has taken a keen interest in the space, and made his impact clear. Dr. Peter Simko (LEGS ’01), a business development manager by day, generously paid for lounge’s eye-catching decorations.
Asked about his in-kind donation, Peter replied:
“I studied in this building 20 years ago,” he said. “If we can create a small, inspiring spot here where every alum would visit when on campus, that would be nice.”
The reception included drinks and snacks, plus a words from Peter and CEU Vice President for Enrollment, Careers and Alumni Relations, Serge Sych (IRES ’97, LEGS ’99). Afterwards, guests went upstairs to join the Rooftop Chillout Party.
HUGE thanks to Peter for his gift and thanks to every alum who made last Friday’s launch a great one.
