Romania, Stefan Cibian (IRES '12)

Stefan is a CEU alumnus graduating from IRES (2012, Ph.D.) and SPP/CPS (2006, M.A.). He is the executive director and co-founder of the Făgăraș Research Institute. Stefan is an Academy Associate with Chatham House – The Royal Institute of International Affairs, Africa Programme, he is also teaching courses related to international development at Babeș-Bolyai University).  In what concerns teaching and research, Stefan is focusing on development and statehood in Sub-Saharan Africa, CEE and EU – Africa relations, development policy, international relations theory, peacebuilding, democratization, civil society and philanthropy, migration, and human rights.

Why does he volunteer for CEU?

CEU has offered me a wonderful experience and the chance to meet wonderful people. I therefore think we need an active Alumni Chapter in Romania in order to both stay in touch with CEU friends and, also, to support new and future CEU students.
