Alumnus Ramūnas Davidonis Named Lithuanian Ambassador to UAE

CEU alumnus Ramūnas Davidonis (IRES ’96, Lithuania) has been appointed as Lithuania’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.  Ramūnas (right) was presented his credentials to represent his country to the UAE on Monday, March 21, by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda (left). See full story.

CEU Alumni Reunion 2022 Postponed

Due to the war in Ukraine, this year’s CEU Alumni Reunion Gala, originally slated for Saturday, May 21 has been postponed. Associated events, part of Alumni Reunion Weekend 2022, have also been tabled for a later date. New dates will be announced once finalized.

The war in Ukraine is a tragedy for the CEU family, which boasts nearly 1000 Ukrainian alumni and students. Since the war’s outbreak, on February 24, the university and its alumni community have mobilized to show solidarity and help alumni and students from Ukraine. See below for what’s being done.  

Here For You: Budapest Alumni Welcome Ukrainian Arrivals

Last Friday the CEU Residence Center in Budapest was busier than usual. Dozens of CEU alumni and friends gathered solemnly in a large conference room, brought together not for a reunion or meetup, but by the war in Ukraine. 

Several had recently arrived in Budapest, families in tow, after fleeing their homes. Some were now living in the dorm.

“I never thought I would be coming back to Kerepesi like this,” one said. 

CEU Alumnus Stanislav Todorov Appointed Bulgarian Deputy Energy Minister

CEU alumnus Stanislav Todorov (LEGS ’07) was appointed in January as Deputy Minister of Energy of Bulgaria.  

Prior to his appointment Stanislav served as procurement manager at Visteon Corporation. Earlier in his career he held managerial positions with Bulgaria’s AES Maritza East 1 power plant, among others.
