Alumnus Publishes Budapest's 'Best'

CEU alumnus and journalist Sebastian Garthoff (HIST ’08) recently published a German-language guidebook to the Hungarian capital. Titled “Budapest - Zeit für das Beste" (Time for the Best), the book is a collaboration between Sebastian and Hungarian photographer Daniel Kaldori.

Focusing on Budapest’s iconic sites, the book was described by Sebastian as a lighter counterpoint to the duo’s journalistic work regarding Hungarian society in the Orban era.

CEU Alumna Khidasheli Appointed Defense Minister of Georgia

Tinatin Khidasheli (POLS '96) has been named defense minister of Georgia, the first woman to hold the post. She is also the first of CEU's alumni to become defense minister.

CEU Alumnus Emelonye Named Representative of the UN High Commissioner in Uganda

CEU alumnus Uchenna Emelonye (LEGS '04) was appointed Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Uganda on May 1, the latest step in a career dedicated to the creation of open societies and the rule of law in Africa. His studies at CEU, where he earned a Master of Laws in Human Rights in 2004, remain relevant and useful, Emelonye said.

Czakó Named to Forbes List of the 50 Most Influential Women in Hungary

The Hungarian edition of Forbes magazine named CEU alumna Borbála Czakó (IMC '90), global partner at Ernst & Young, one of the 50 most influential women in business in Hungary. Czakó earned an MBA from CEU Business School in 1990, and won CEU’s 20th Anniversary Alumni Hero award in 2011.
