Elena Krusheuskaja (SPP '19, Belarus)

October 5, 2017

Elena is studying at CEU this year, thanks to the CEU Alumni Scholarship.

In her own words:

My engagement in politics and the defense of human rights began in 2006, when I joined a Belarusian democratic protest camp as a public speaker. I was trained in project management and leadership with the help of various NGOs. The fight against dictatorship and propaganda resulted in my addressing youth and students, the LGBTQIA community and prominent oppositional candidates at all levels of governance.

As a former Political Science student and a graduate of Budapest’s Corvinus University I remain dedicated to my country. My research focuses on components of Belarusian identity, and I hope to gain the knowledge necessary for successful state reforms.

I am a firm supporter of George Soros, I stand with CEU and strongly believe in the concept of Purpose Beyond Power. It's an honor to be selected by alumni donors and I am glad that I walk the path once chosen by the Belarusian CEU peers. Thank you!
