CEU Alumnus and Prisoner of Conscience Released from Prison in Azerbaijan

Activist and CEU alumnus Rashadat Akhundov (BUSI '07) was reportedly among 148 political prisoners released from prison in Azerbaijan on March 17.

A co-founder of the N!DA Civic Movement, he was arrested in 2013, charged with firearms and explosives possession and sentenced to more than eight years in prison.

Torotcoi First Alumna to Tutor at Roma Access Programs

Alumna and doctoral student Simona Torotcoi (DPP MA '13) recently joined Roma Access Programs to teach Introduction to Public Policy II during the the Winter 2016 term, making her the first CEU alumna to tutor there. 

In academic year 2011-12 she was a student in CEU's Roma Access Programs. She took tutoring classes in public policy, then she completed her master's degree in the former Department of Public Policy. Choosing the Higher Education and Management track, she worked on the case of Romanian Roma students' participation in higher education.

CEU Alumni Relations and Career Services Among 'Top Performer' Programs in Europe

The CEU Alumni Relations and Career Services (ARCS) office was named a 'top performer' in volunteer engagement, events participation and alumni fundraising, based on results of a recent survey administered by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

CEU received high marks in the International CASE Alumni Relations Survey (ICARS), among nearly 80 major universities in the UK, continental Europe and beyond.

Alumna Kyra Lyublyanovics Earns Honorable Mention From Kubinyi Foundation

Alumna Kyra Lyublyanovics (MEDS '09), recently earned Honorable Mention in the award handed out by the András Kubinyi Foundation for Medieval Studies, a prestigious award within the Hungarian academic community.

CEU Alumna Kurnasova Passes

We are saddened to report the passing of alumna Zuzana Kurnasova's (IRES '10) in January. Her department wrote: "Prior to returning to Slovakia, Zuzana was a bright and enthusiastic student in our Masters program."  The CEU Alumni Relations team offers its sincerest condolences to Zuzana's loved ones.
