Learning Philanthropy: CEU Community Helps Underprivileged Children in Budapest

When you think of doing philanthropy what comes to mind? Do you want to make a donation online, to instantly feel good about yourself, or do you prefer a more ‘hands on’ approach to actively helping those in need?

At the Alumni Relations and Career Services office we opted for the latter and launched a project allowing students to give back and experience the spirit of philanthropy and its long-lasting impact on their lives.

CEU Alumnus Edits 'Nonviolent History'

CEU alumnus Maciej Bartkowski (IRES ’01, ’06) is editor of “Recovering Nonviolent History: Civil Resistance in Liberation Struggles,” which was recently published by Lynne Rienner Publishers.

The book examines the little-known but powerful roles that civil resistance has played in national liberation struggles throughout history, in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and elesewhere. 

CEU Calling! Spring Phonathon 2013 now underway

The CEU Alumni Relations and Career Services team is kicking off its annual Spring Phonathon campaign this week. Launched in preparation for the 2013 Alumni Reununion Weekend, the Phonathon is intended as a means of keeping in contact with CEU's alumni community.

Budapest Alumni Club premier a success!

CEU's new Budapest Alumni Club got off to a great start on Thursday, February 28, as more than 60 alumni, students and friends attended its kickoff session.

Held at CEU's Nador 13 lobby, this social event included an interactive workshop on "The Art of Office Intrigue: (Mis)communication in the Workplace," by CEU alumna and debate trainer Maja Nenandovic, plus live music performed by Alumni Scholarship Recipients Andrii Vitruk and Sergiu Burlacu. 

New alumni chapters in Mongolia and China off to strong starts

Two recently-formed chapters of CEU alumni, in Mongolia and China respectively, are getting organized, meeting and taking action to maintain ties to their alma mater.

The CEU Alumni & Friends in Mongolia chapter met in Ulan Bator last month and elected representatives to maintain contact with the university and to coordinate future events.

The meeting, at a pub in the Mongolian capital, also included socializing and games. Enthusiasm among participating alumni has been high.
