CEU's first-ever intellectual game show series, co-organized by Alumni Scholarship recipient

On Thursday, October 20, 2011, Andrei Lutenco (Moldova, LEGS '12), one of the 20 students who got a scholarship thanks to CEU alumni this year, is co-organizing CEU's first-ever intellectual game show series, What? Where? When? CEU alumni, students, faculty and staff are forming teams of 2 to 6 people to compete for a grand prize and the fame of being pronounced the brainiacs of the world's most international university.

On October 6, 2011, Slovak-speaking CEU alumni, students and friends were brought together in Budapest by Alumni Scholarship Recipient Veronika Korcekova (Slovakia, CPS '12). As many as 15 Slovakian alumni and students joined us for this fun and relaxed mini-reunion. It was the perfect chance to unwind with good friends from CEU, share some stories about enjoying life and studying in Budapest and even make some new contacts within the Slovakian community in the city.

On September 8th, the Slovak Alumni chapter met in Bratislava in order to gather together after the summer vacation and celebrate the 20th anniversary of CEU. Moreover, we invited Zuzana Kepplova, CEU alumna (GENS ’07), to talk about her newly launched book BUCHTY SVABACHOM and read parts of it. The book explores experiences that we all share from our studies abroad and from living in a foreign country in general.

On Friday, September 23, 2011, CEU held the biggest alumni reunion that the University had ever had in Bucharest to-date. Nearly 100 alumni joined us at the beautiful historical premises of the Central University Library. Guests were welcomed by CEU President and Rector John Shattuck, who spoke about the importance of having an active CEU alumni chapter in Romania and recognized a few distinguished alumni from the region. Among them was Monica Macovei (LEGS '93), currently Member of the European Parliament, Member of the CEU Board of Trustees and Former Minister of Justice in Romania.

The CEU Alumni Teahouse for new students on Friday, September 9, 2011 was a great success, with the best turnout of students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends that CEU has ever had at the annual Welcome Afternoon. CEU's brand new Nador u. 13 building accommodated a comfy lounge area with complementary tea and cookies for the Alumni Teahouse, an exhibition of CEU student clubs and initiatives on-campus for students, as well as a CEU gifts corner where guests could purchase some CEU-branded merchandise.
