CEU Offers Emergency Assistance for Students Impacted by Covid-19 Crisis

CEU has been providing emergency support to students whose studies have been interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. And now, alumni are being asked to help.  

The university recently announced a special emergency fund to help provide housing, food, medical and psychological care and tech support for students sheltered at the dorm – many in isolation – trying to complete their studies remotely.  

CEU Alumna Czako Named 'Manager of the Year for Society'

CEU alumna Borbála Czako (BUSI ’90, Hungary) was named Manger of the Year for Society 2020 earlier this month by the Hungarian Association of Executives for her work as president of the Hungarian Business Leaders Forum. 

CEU Alumnus Faje Passes

CEU alumnus Dr. Florin Faje (SOCL ’08, PhD ’14) passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 15. He was 35 years old.

A professor at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work at Babes-Bolyai University, Florin suffered a stroke prior to a scheduled lecture last week. Despite emergency surgery to save his life, on the night of the 15th he suffered heart failure and died.

Alumni Meet in Prague

More than a dozen CEU alumni got together for a small but lively reunion in the Czech capital on Tuesday, November 5. The meetup was hosted by Serge Sych (IRES ’97, LEGS ’99) CEU Vice President for Enrollment, Careers and Alumni Relations, at Prague’s Podlarka Karlin pub. (See pics below.)

The meetup drew many generations of alumni, from early alumni from the Class of 1993 to recent graduates from the Class of 2017. Among attendees were professionals from the Czech and local governments, civil society, business and higher education.
