CEU alumnus Dr. Florin Faje (SOCL ’08, PhD ’14) passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 15. He was 35 years old.
A professor at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work at Babes-Bolyai University, Florin suffered a stroke prior to a scheduled lecture last week. Despite emergency surgery to save his life, on the night of the 15th he suffered heart failure and died.
His sudden passing has anguished colleagues and students at the Faculty, in Cluj, Romania, where he was a popular professor of anthropology and sociology. He is survived by his wife (and fellow CEU graduate) Neda Deneva-Faje (SOCL ’05, Phd ’14) and their son, Nikolay.
Recalled by his colleagues as “remarkable, kind and full of compassion,” Florin will be deeply missed.
