Alumna, Chapter Leader Zemtsova Passes

We are saddened to report that CEU alumna Oxana Zemtsova (HIST ’07) passed away in July after a prolonged illness. She was 41. 

Oxana is survived by her husband and two sons. She worked as a researcher and lived in Prato, Italy, where she also served as CEU’s national alumni chapter leader.

 Our deepest condolences to Oxana’s family, friends and fellow alumni.

 

Alumnus Miljan Publishes Book

Alumnus and historian Goran Miljan (HIST MA '09; PhD '16) recently published his book Croatia and the Rise of Fascism: the Youth Movement and the Ustasha During WWII.

In early 2016 he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, "Young, Militarized, and Radical: The Ustasha Youth Organization, Ideology, and Practice, 1941-1945” with Summa Cum Laude. Congratulations, Goran! 

Help Guide CEU's Next Generation, Worldwide

The CEU community is getting bigger all the time. And now, it’s time to help welcome the university’s new cohort!

Students from 86 countries worldwide will be arriving at CEU this September (see map, below). The top ten countries with the highest number of new students are Hungary, U.S.A., Turkey, Russia, India, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Germany, Ukraine and Serbia.

Blogging, podcasting, and giving back were all part of a busy year for CEU’s alumni-supported students.

This year 26 Alumni Scholarship Recipients (ASRs) balanced their studies with a number of projects designed to enrich the CEU community, in Budapest and beyond.

Thanks to more than 1,400 of you, this year’s CEU Alumni Phonathon was a major success, surpassing last year’s record across the board.

This year Phonathon reached more alumni than last, and raised more funds in support of CEU’s future, and in less time, than ever before.
