Blogging, podcasting, and giving back were all part of a busy year for CEU’s alumni-supported students.
This year 26 Alumni Scholarship Recipients (ASRs) balanced their studies with a number of projects designed to enrich the CEU community, in Budapest and beyond.
For the second year in a row, ASRs came together to share stories of their CEU experiences via the Student Space blog. Students also collaborated on the university’s first ever Alumni Podcast. Organized by Elena Krusheuskaja (SPP '19, Belarus), Andrej Hagan (IR '18, United Kingdom), and Jani Korhonen (NATI '19, Finland), the podcast spotlighted alumni like Andrija Visic (SPP ’15, Croatia), who are committed volunteers, donors and successful professionals.
Giving back the community that helped make their CEU education possible was also a priority for this year’s ASRs. Seven of them formed the first-ever Student Philanthropy Council and worked on the Graduating Class Gift, the Bake it/Make It Forward fundraiser, Pub Quiz and other fundraising projects.
Drawing hundreds of participants, these projects served to educate students about the importance of giving, while also raising funds to help support future students.
Students also assisted the Career Services office, researching job for the CareerNext online platform for students and alumni, and penning articles on various career talks. Other activities included hosting Open Mic events and guiding campus tours during Alumni Reunion Weekend.
Alumni giving supported this year’s ASRs, who were selected based on their community service and leadership potential. Alumni financial support for ASRs was provided through the CEUgeneration fund of the CEU Alumni Campaign.
Thanks to this year’s ASRs for giving back to the community, and special thanks to alumni donors for making it all possible!
