President and Rector Honors Distinguished CEU Alumni

As part of its 25th Anniversary reunion, CEU hosted its first-ever President’s Dinner on Saturday, May 7 the Budapest’s Marriott, to honor those alumni who have distinguished themselves and their University. (See photos and video.)

More than 500 alumni and friends gathered at Budapest's Marriott Hotel on Saturday, May 7 for CEU's 25th Anniversary Alumni Reception & Party - more than twice the number that attended last year's reunion gala, making it the largest alumni reunion in CEU history.

CEU Mourns Passing of Joanna Renc-Roe

CEU mourns the loss of alumna Joanna Renc-Roe (GENS ’04), a lecturer at the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), who passed away Wednesday, April 20. Joanna was a respected member of the CEU community for 13 years who made many significant contributions to the University, and will be greatly missed. CEU expresses its condolences to Joanna’s family, particularly her husband, Associate Professor Paul Roe of the Department of International Relations. Full story.

CEU Alumnus and Prisoner of Conscience Released from Prison in Azerbaijan

Activist and CEU alumnus Rashadat Akhundov (BUSI '07) was reportedly among 148 political prisoners released from prison in Azerbaijan on March 17.

A co-founder of the N!DA Civic Movement, he was arrested in 2013, charged with firearms and explosives possession and sentenced to more than eight years in prison.
