Second-Biggest Gala Caps Alumni Reunion Weekend 2013

More than 500 CEU alumni, students, faculty, employers and friends participated in this year’s Alumni Reunion Weekend, one of the most successful in university history. Thanks to everyone who joined us for these three amazing days of social, networking and career-related events in Budapest!

CEU Alumni in Mongolia aid children’s home

CEU Alumni and Friends in Mongolia have had a busy spring, launching a number of projects including aid to a children’s home, planning environmental stewardship hikes and others.

Earlier this month several alumni traveled to the Erdem Center, a home for vulnerable children in Ulan Bator. The old Soviet-era building is home to 30 school-age kids removed by the authorities from unfavorable situations such as neglect or alcoholism. The center is run by primarily by volunteers and its funding is sporadic.

Alumni Scholarship Recipients Participate in Earth Day Bike Clinic, Sustainability Efforts

Several of this year’s Alumni Scholarship Recipients helped stage a bike clinic at CEU on April 24, highlighting carbon-free transportation as part of sustainability efforts on campus.

Strong alumni showing for Yerevan reunion

Nearly 20 CEU alumni met in Yerevan, Armenia on Thursday, April 25. Among those in attendance was CEU Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Liviu Matei, who is visiting the country and provided alumni with all the latest from Budapest.

Also, Aida Ghazaryan announced that she will be moving to Almaty, Kazakhstan, and can no longer serve as leader of the Armenian Alumni Chapter. A new chapter leader is currently being sought.

Hungary takes lead in Spring Phonathon Giving

Spring Phonathon 2013 just keeps going stronger! So far, our team has reached more than 6500 alumni around the world, who have generously pledged more than $9800 to support the future of CEU.

In the past week we’ve seen some amazing alumni support of CEU. We’ve also seen Hungary rocket from third to first place in terms of alumni generosity, followed by Bulgaria and Macedonia in the lead. (See below for the latest stats.)
