CEU alumnus Nurbek Jenish (ECON ’09, PhD) has recently been appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The 38-year-old Bishkek native has already had an impressive career in economics. After leaving CEU he taught at the American University of Central Asia since 2009. In 2012 he was tapped to head its Economics Department.
Prior to his stint at the AUCA, Nurbek worked at the Asian Development Bank and here in Budapest at the National Bank of Hungary. He has also served as a consultant to the World Bank in Washington D.C.
