History Alumna Baar Wins ERC Consolidator Grant

CEU alumna Monika Baar (HIST’ 95) won an consolidator grant from the European Research Council worth €2 million for her innovative research project Rethinking Disability: The Global Impact of the International Year of Disabled Persons (1981) in Historical Perspective.

Baar, who won the European Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities offered by CEU in 2014 (photo), will use the funding to study the global impact of the UN Year of Disabled Persons in 1981.

Baar, a Rosalind Franklin Fellow at the University of Groningen, specializes in modern history, with a particular interest in marginal
