October 1, 2015

Pizwak is studying at CEU this year thanks to the supporters of the Alumni Scholarship, next|generation

In her own words:

I grew up in a small village in the disputed territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, at the heart of the conflict between Pakistan and India. This led to my interest in politics and a resilience to work hard, despite the limited opportunities at hand. Through this dedication I became the first student from my village to secure admission in the country’s top university, LUMS, with a 70 percent scholarship.

I’ve always yearned to play a positive role in the development of my region and to help students from far-flung areas reach a better future. Thus, I represented my region at the One Young World youth conference in Dublin, voicing concerns of my people regarding the conflict in Kashmir and its implications for the community.

I’m honored to be chosen for the CEU Alumni scholarship. This will make possible my overcoming impossible odds and pursuing the highest merits of education—and being able to play a positive role in my own community. Thank you donors for this chance!
