CEU alumnus Jakub Leps (POLS ’98) was recently elected Prague chairman for the TOP 09 political party. Elected for the two year term in January, his tasks will focus on managing the party and campaigning ahead of this fall’s local and senate elections.
Jakub also serves as Third Deputy Mayor of Prague’s 11th District, a role which he says he will continue.
Formed in 2010, TOP 09 (Tradice Odpovědnost Prosperita, or “Tradition, Responsibility, Prosperity) is a center right party concerned with preserving liberal democracy in the Czech Republic and resisting attempts to introduce non-democratic features in local politics and culture.
A writer, educator and politician, Jakub is a former CEU alumni chapter leader and winner of the 2016 CEU Alumni Impact Award.
Congratulations, Jakub!
