Alumnus Zapata Named Deputy Minister for Defense Policy in Peru

CEU alumnus Librado Orozco Zapata (IRES '02), has been appointed Deputy Minister for Defense Policy in Peru.

Librado is a career diplomat and ambassador with the Diplomatic Service of Peru. His academic background includes study of Arts and Law at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru; a postgraduate degree in International Relations from the University of Oxford; and a master's in International Relations and European Studies from CEU and New York State University. Additionally, he holds a PhD in Contemporary History at the University of Szeged.

Alumnus Krudy Earns Journalism Fellowship

Edward Krudy (HIST '04), a journalist with Reuters news agency in New York, was recently awarded a prestigious Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism at Columbia University.

This mid-career fellowship provides full tuition and a living stipend for experienced journalists to take graduate courses at Columbia's Schools of Business, Law and International and Public Affairs. Fellows also attend special seminars at the Journalism School, led by scholars and business experts during the nine-month program, which begins in August.

Munro New UConn Sustainability Coordinator

CEU alumni Sarah Munro (IRES '11) was recently hired as the first full-time Sustainability Program Coordinator at the University of Connecticut's Office of Environmental Policy. Previously she worked with there in a number of positions, including as teaching assistant for a Sustainable Energy course and also organizing the University of Connecticut's first trip to the UN's annual climate summit in Paris. Learn more here.
