Homecoming: Alumni Meet in Skopje

More than a dozen CEU alumni and friends met for a lively summer meetup in Skopje, North Macedonia on Wednesday, June 5.

Gathering at the Public Room bar, the event drew a wide spectrum of CEU alumni. It was also the first alumni meetup in Skopje hosted by CEU Alumni Relations Head Nena Grceva (GENS ’05), herself a native of Skopje.

Attendees were from graduating classes 1993 to 2018, and many are making an impact in NGOs, academia and business. Many attendees have also supported CEU as alumni donors and volunteers.

Together Again! First CEU Alumni Meetup in Ljubljana in Decade

It was high time to catch up. And on Thursday, May 30 CEU alumni and friends held their first meetup in Ljubljana, Slovenia in a decade!  

Ten CEU alumni met at Ljubljana’s Pritličje bar and cultural center – and talked for nearly four hours straight! Things got nostalgic, with stories of student days and parties – and readings of Foucault – as well as stories of post CEU life and talk of the future, including CEU’s move to Vienna.

Alumni Meetup Largest Yet in Vienna

Nearly 30 CEU alumni met in Vienna on Wednesday, June 5 for a special happy hour with President and Rector Michael Ignatieff. (See pics below.) It was the university’s largest alumni event in the Austrian capital thus far, and with CEU’s new campus opening there this fall, a likely foretaste of things to come.

Meeting at Vienna’s buzzing Magazin 3 Hacken restaurant, the crowd consisted of graduates of nearly every CEU academic unit and classes from 1993 to 2018. Guests also included two CEU couples - and the young daughter of one.
