IRES alumnus Blumkin passes

We are very saddened to learn of the passing of CEU alumnus Dmitri Blumkin (IRES '97), who reportedly died on Friday, July 5. 

The CEU Alumni Relations & Career Services team offers its sincere condolences to Dmitri's family and friends. 

LEGS graduate honored for justice, legal access work

Natalia Mileszyk (LEGS '13) recently became the second recipient of CEU's BABSEA / CLE Legal Studies Human Rights award.

A graduate of the Human Rights LLM program, she was selected for both her high GPA and her work promoting clinical legal education in her native Poland. She was presented the award during the Academic Awards Ceremony on graduation day, June 13.

CEU alumna lands second MEP award

European Parliament member and CEU alumna Livia Járóka (SOCI '99) has been honored for her outstanding work within the EU legislature - for the second time. 

At a June 25 awards ceremony in Brussels she was awarded The Parliament magazine's MEP Awards 2013, in the category of "Justice and Civil Liberties," for her work on Romani inclusion. 

This is her second MEP award from the magazine; in 2006 she was honored for her work in the category of "Justice and Fundamental Rights." 

CEU Medieval Studies Department celebrates 20 year anniversary

CEU's Medieval Studies Department boasts an alumni body of successful, well-placed professionals within the discipline. 

This fact is not lost to Professor Gabor Klaniczay. Speaking before department alumni earlier this month, he noted their key positions in universities, archives and museums. 

"Everywhere, there are our alumni," he said. "[They are] the greatest, most important asset of our department." 

Library borrowing privileges available through alumni offices

The CEU Library boasts Central and Eastern Europe's largest collection of English language humanities and social sciences titles. Naturally, many alumni would still like to access the collection. The good news is: they still can. 

CEU and CEU Business School alumni are welcome to use all of the library's facilities (alumni cards are accepted as library membership cards), however a letter of recommendation is required for acquiring borrowing privileges.
