Philanthropy Week Celebrates, Encourages Giving

Give thanks. Pay it forward. Repeat. That’s what the CEU community in Budapest and beyond did recently during the university’s first-ever Philanthropy Week.

Philanthropy Bake Sale Serves Generous Returns

The CEU community is hungry to give back. 

That's the takeaway from this year's 5th annual Bake It > Make It Forward fundraiser, held at CEU on November 27. In kicking off the university's first-ever Philanthropy Week, community members raised a record 170,000 HUF ($638) by day's end in support of two great causes. (Photos below.)

We didn’t know either, but someone got it right at CEU’s first-ever Philanthropy Pub Quiz, on December 1. Part of Philanthropy Week, this boisterous trivia showdown drew nearly 100 students, alumni, faculty and staff to Nador 15 to match wits, enjoy a brew – and support two great causes. (Photos below)

Hands On: Students Find New Ways to Fundraise

These students aren’t waiting around. 

In September, seven Alumni Scholarship Recipients took action to make a difference and get some hands-on experience in giving back, by forming CEU’s first Student Philanthropy Council.

The council’s mission is simple: find new and fun ways to raise funds and educate the community about the importance of philanthropy.
